Dist. Partitioned Views
all of the primary key.
Is this design advice or a requirement? If it's a
requirement, why?
Any and all help appreciated,
Thanks,
Andrewit is a requirement, so that sql server will know to which
server the new row belongs. This is just to avoid
confilict and overlapping of the data on multiple servers.

Displaying XML Data
database in one of the report. How can I display this data in Reporting
Services with the color schema similar to IE (elements and attributes in
different colors etc..)?
Thanks,
Live_Love_LaughThe displaying the XML data itself is not an issue. You can pass it to a
custom function (preferebaly located in an external assembly) and apply a XSL
transformation when the report is processed. What makes your task difficult
is the color-coding. Unfortunately, version 1.0 doesn't support HTML markers,
e.g. <b> for bold, <font> etc. To make the task even more difficult textboxes
are rendered as table cells and don't have ids which makes it difficult to
reference them by DHTML.
One thing you can try is exporting the report as XML and associating an XSL
stylesheet in the DataOutput properties which will render the report the way
you want it.

Did either of you succeed?
If so can you tell me what you did or post an example?
Thanks in advance

Displaying Total number of Rows in a Report in Page Header.
Hi,
I have requirement to display Total number of Rows in a Report in Page Header.
I have written the following code in Page header it shows RowCount for the Page only.
=Count(ReportItems!textboxInTableCell.Value)
Can anyone please help on this?
Regards
Raghav
By Total number of reports in the report do you mean the number of rows returned by the Dataset query? If so, add a textbox in your Report Body with the expression =CountRows("DataSet1") with the name of your Dataset in place of DataSet1.
Then refer to this textbox directly in the Page Header.
This should give you the total row count for your Dataset.

|||Thanks aayush,
I used =CountRows() in body header and set the RepeatWith property to "tableName" and it works as Page header.

Displaying the MessageDLL option on Event property.
I don't know much about Event log viewer, so I am asking
for help. According to my project Requirement, I have to show the
Event Message DLL option on the property dialog box of the Event log
viewer.
following is the series of msgs shown in event viewer: The description
for
: Event ID (17055 ) in Source ( MSSQLSERVER). Category is (2) ,Time
,Date ,User and Computer is RASHEED.
There are some options which I can see the Event Properties but I cant
see the MessageDLL option. Suppose if I want to see this so what I
need to do.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rasheed.I'm not sure how this question is related to SQL Server but the name of the
EventMessageFile is stored in the registry. See
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Windo...3.mspx?mfr=true
Hope this helps.

Displaying reports in the form of graphs over web
Hi,
I have a requirement to show reports(in the form of graphs) over the web page. The reports get the data from the database. Right now I'm using GDI+ to render the graphs over the web. I want to know if there are any significant advantages of using sql server reporting services over GDI+ ?
Can I draw any kind of complex graphs using the reporting services or is there a limitation on the kind of graphs that can be drawn?
Does GDI+ have better flexibility in terms of drawing graphs or reporting service can help achieve the same thing?
Thanks much in advance.
Drawing graphs yourself will always provide you with more flexibility than using a pre-built solution. The question is: do you need this much flexibility? In most cases, the answer is no; but only you can answer that. SSRS gives you a lot. I wouldn't dare say it handles every scenario, but I haven't seen a requirement that can't be met with what SSRS provides. If you've ever used the charting in Excel, you can think of this as a somewhat similar feature-set. Honestly, tho, I'd just take the hour to create a simple report. You'll see how easy it is and what options you're given fairly quickly. Additionally, you can check out theAsp.net videos; specifically, the SQL Server 2005 Express section has two videos you might be interested in:#10 Getting Started with Reporting Services and#11 Building and Customizing Reports in Business Intelligence Development Studio.
|||Thank you so much for the information. I got just what I needed. I need to generate graphs similar to those generated using Excel.
Reporting services seems to be the better option then. Thanks once again.
|||Glad to be able to help! A lot of people hesitate to dig into SSRS because they're worried it'll be complicated. Once you start, tho, you realize just how easy it is to get up and running. Admittedly, SSRS isn't going to solve every problem and there can be some annoying work-arounds when you start to reach more advanced reports, but it's a fantastic 80-90% solution. Best of luck with it!|||Swetha.c,
I found a solution that has an interface that looks similar to Microsoft Excel. It is a product called AutoTag made by Windward Reports. They have an ASP.NET Engine that can run the reports you generate from AutoTag. Check it out, might be what you are looking for.

Display of message on page footer depending on field value
My requirement is like this, i need to display message on footer(table
footer ) depending upon the value of one of field column (LegendInd ,the
value will be 1 for legend and null for no legend)which varies for rows.I
want message at footer.I tried like this. I have table in which i display
field data.In that i added table footer and in table footer i added following
expression. =iif((Fields!LegendInd.Value =1),"my message","").Despite of
having the value 1 for this field , the message never gets printed.
Any suggestions?try putting =Fields!LegendInd.Value in the footer and see what it prints.
Also you could try =First(Fields!LegendInd.Value)
If that prints fine then your message should print

i tried both approaches, but still it is not displaying the value.
I checked from database side,it does bring LegendInd=1 value.
